0:00 I liked the Clubhouse first experience where the volunteers, Clubhouse enthusiasts, were running these rooms and helping each other out. That was really powerful in the early days. The community was welcoming and it was fun. A lot of people left, so the experience and the magic disappeared. That was never the case when Spotify launched live. I think it was now called, now they just closed it down as well. It was about diamonds or something and that was a horrible experience from the beginning. When you're going to a new environment, culture is something you observe and the behavior as well. If you grow too fast, it's really difficult to keep this.

0:52 These invisible boundaries, these ways which tell people without explicitly telling what is okay, how do you behave here, what is the nice way of communicating and interacting with people. On Oster there was this similar nice fuzzy feeling in the beginning. Was it early March when there was some mastodon trolls? Yes, there was a lot of people who wanted on purpose to make havoc and they tried to troll really hard and caused disharmony. I think the community managed to tone them down and probably they left or they were left to their own devices. They didn't find the reaction they wanted and it went down.

1:48 The same is now happening in Blue Sky. Partly it is that I don't know whether you as app builder are attracting the people or the people are choosing the app. You just have to partly hope that you get the type of people you want to get in there. Because if it sets the wrong tone, you may never recover like in the case of Spotify's Live. AirJazz case, I think it has some advantages. It's on this front because it's not meant to be like a public plaza, huge place. You have this more intimate setting and you're discovering rooms and people. Naval was just earlier today mentioning elsewhere that mass importing your social graph is not the way to go here.

2:45 It doesn't function. And I think these are ways. There are ways to keep it down, keep it in a good way, small, even though the whole app space or the whole social environment can be large. But that's how you live in a big city as well. You live there by the houses, the blocks and smaller environments. And scale only comes if you travel between them. But you just cannot have it all.
